First Annual National Teacher Awards Jan 2017

NAPD members, other members of staff, students and parents are invited to
nominate teachers online at teacher for The Better Examinations National Teacher Awards.   The Awards, supported by NAPD, will recognise teachers for their ability to work beyond the classroom and contribute to improving student life within the school.

The awards ceremony will be held on Friday, 24th March at Trinity College, Dublin.


New Model for allocation of Resource Teachers announced Jan 2017

The Minister for Education & Skills, Richard Bruton TD announced on 18th January ncse
that a new model for allocating Special Education Teaching Resources will be introduced from September 2017.

The new model is being implemented on advice from the NCSE following  a pilot scheme in 47 schools.   It will be based on the profiled special educational need of each school.

NAPD sponsors Best School Award at Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition

 btys 2017Congratulations to Colaiste Treasa , Kanturk, Co. Cork, winners of the NAPD Award for Best School Overall at the 2017 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

The Best School Overall Award is calculated on a points system, based on the numbers and types of awards an individual school wins.

ICT Grants for 2017 Announced

The Minister for Education & Skills, Richard Bruton, TD, has announced an investment of
€30 million in ICT bruton 2017infrastructure grants marking the start of the Government's €210 million Digital Strategy for schools.

This year's grant is worth circa €15,000 for a 500 student school.

The funding will support the development and implementation of an eLearning Plan in each school.

PISA 2015 Results Published

The Minister for Education & Skills, Richard Bruton, TD, has welcomed the latest OECD PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment)results which show that, in 2015, Ireland's 15 year olds are among the best in OECD countries in reading and are performing significantly higher than the OECD average in Mathematics & Science.
