Strategic Timetable Planning.

Simple steps to master your short and long term school timetable.

Creating a school timetable is one of the most complex tasks in a school.

Balancing subject availability, staff allocation, room allocations, curriculum requirements and student needs, this one-day workshop delivered by experienced school timetable experts Phil Blythe (Deputy Principal of Naas Community College) and Ciarán Keegan (Principal of Naas Community College) in association with the NAPD, provides a practical step-by-step approach to simplifying the timetable process.

This workshop is intended for Principals, Deputy Principals, and staff responsible for school timetabling. Participants will learn proven strategies for planning and building an effective timetable, to help avoid pitfalls.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. To learn the core principles of effective school timetabling, including constraints and priorities, in-line with staff allocation and subject demands.

  2. To create and adapt a smart timetable spreadsheet that, once complete, will allow you to build a working timetable based on your preferences in a day.

  3. To apply time-saving techniques and best practices to allow you to plan for short and long-term timetables.

  4. A considered approach to staff allocation, curriculum, short and long term planning and academic attainment.
