Internationl Safer Internet Day

While every day is Safer Internet Day in our schools, February 11th was international Safer Internet Day. Thanks to our colleagues at Webwise, NAPD were invited to attend the launch of SID2020 in Twitter HQ in Cumberland Place D2.

Along with Director Clive Byrne and Deputy Director Paul Byrne, NAPD DL were also in attendance.

The resource Connected An introduction to Media Literacy was formally launched.

Managing Director of Twitter Dublin Sinead McSweeney got proceedings underway with contributions from PDST as well as two discussion panels. Roe McDermott (writer and columnist), Ronan Costello (Public Policy Twitter),Claire Treanor (Teacher Loreto Kilkenny),Prof Brian O’Neill  (TU Dublin) ,Gavin  Sheridan (Investigative Journalist) all spoke knowingly on the challenges for us all around digital Literacy.

The second panel discussion involved post primary students from Loreto Kilkenny, Newbridge College, and Muckross Park who shared their experiences and thoughts.
